WOW! has it been almost a year? Sorry for the long absence. But I'm back again with a new piece. As most of you may know Disney had bought Marvel....could be a good thing..could be a bad thing...we'll see. I know what it's like to be bought by the big house of mouse...and for me it blew...but whatever...anyway a friend of mine thought it might be cool to do some Marvel/Disney character mash-ups..which for some bizzare reason really inspired me...so here's my take on one of those famous characters. Lookinf forward to do more...hopefully not in a year.

Well it's finally done. I really enjoyed working on this because it was back to basics.....pencils, inks, and color, with out the aid of a computer. I used a uniball ink pen,Sakura brush pens and those Tombo double tipped markers for color and I gotta tell ya. It felt old-school which was pretty nice..kinda gets the cobwebs out and you know what...it needs to be done more often..at least for me. And on top of that this is for a good cause and I'm just glad to be a part of it. Thanks for the heads up on that Rob!

Well it's been a while as pointed out by my buddy Frog Daddy..."two post in one year! now get your shinebox!"... made me spit my coffee! God love him because I sure don't! LOL!! Anyway, I got a little something updated and got the go-ahead to produce at my company. I'm excited about it because we could do a lot more with this being that we got all of these superhero movies coming out.

What can I say..I've neglected my blog for WAY too long now and I'm not going to go in the blah blah blah and whaah whaah whaah. I know I needed to post something so here's a couple of sketches on a project in development that I hope really works out. I originally had wanted to do an IronMan piece to coincide w/ the new move that came out last week..which ROCKS! But I will get back to that one soon. Man, I know much time has passed since my last post. Like my boy Frog Daddy said..my last post was at the end of baseball season last year...wow! My second daughter just turned 1 my oldest is turning 6 in June. The Mets collapsed at the end of last season...my team the NY GIANTS won the Super Bowl...which was the frigging best thing ever! Got fired from a job in Febuary..(WHAAAA! I got fired from a a crappy job WHAAAA! Then I went back to an old job WHAAA!! LOL!! O yeah a lot of time has passed since the last post... Seriously though, everything is groovy, family is doing well. And I will try to keep posting more often. S

I was rumaging around some of my old stuff and came across a sketch book I forgot
I had from WAY back when. It had various sketches in it some crappy some pretty cool.
And some I plan on a before and after theme. Anyway, like some of you I was
a HUGE Wolverine fan and I got inspired from another comic character and thought...
this would make a cool pose for Wolverine. (I think it was a Spiderman pose) not sure
but I think it was.

Here's another sketch I did back in the day! I like the "danger" of it if you will. This was done during a time when I was or felt I was really on point when it came to drawing Disney characters. However, Disney said at the time to "soften" the fishes teeth up some.

It's been six years since I left my old job and a buddy of mine (jesse's sketchpad) kept an abundant amount disney sketches I did back then and noticed that they used a lot of my ideas for their own styleguides/supplements...ain't nothing sacred?!...just kidding...it just tells me that the must of really like my stuff...however the one's you see here were based on a space exploration theme they created and we just ran with creating some new poses and ideas...hope you like. I'll be postin' some more

oh yeah quick family update..for some of you that don't know...we're expecting our second child (another girl) in April...now I'm really outnumbered! But it's all good and I'm excited and very happy..I just gotta re-new my membership to DWS....(Dads with Shotguns!)...you out there know what I'm talkin about! Peace!!

This is a cover for a children's novelty button book that I developed. I did the interiors as well. Not sure when the book comes out..it could be by the summer or fall. So all you parents out there be sure to get your copy. I'll have more info about it soon.

Note: I'm still working on the jedi sketch for final..haven't forgot. I'm working on the backgrounds still. I'm looking forward to completing it.

...I was an animated Jedi...it may seem a bit geeky but what the hell. I thought about giving it a shot and I like how this sketch is coming out. The style is based on the Clone Wars animated show both volumes on DVD. It's a great reference and I like that art syle as well. It's entertaining as hell. Better than the recent movies some may say. Anyway, Volume 2 has some very cool (albiet not much) extra features. Sketches, storyboards, cell art, and a very cool cg animated Lego short called "Revenge of the Brick" very, very cool. If you haven't seen it, pick it up.

Now the sketch is still in it's early stages so I might refine it some more and take it to final color with backgounds as well. Stay tuned........

even though i still have issues with disney...I do continue to enjoy drawing the characters especially that crazy mouse..mickey. it was the one character I learned to draw and help get me to where I am today..so for that, I am grateful.
